Democracy : Noun, informal. A form of government in which a people, faced with the responsibility of self-rule, cast the job instead to an exclusive mire of unskilled panders.

Technically you're right.

If you're going to form an opinion I'd shy away from Politics. Both parties are screwed up. We just vote on who's less whacked.

I've been following US politics for quite some time now, and while both parties are not that great (also, a two party system? Because questions should always be answered with YES or NO, right?) the Republicans are out of their mind. Reagan's trickle down economics don't work, as evident by the bad results McDonalds and other consumable producers scored - there is no purchasing power in the lower classes, and it hurts business. That fact is ignored and the idea of a reasonable minimum wage is bashed by the GOP. Also, guns. I get why they have been necessary, but this isn't the wild west anymore.

Get over it. Voters have spoken on the country's future direction.

The voters have spoken. The only way to send the Donkeys a message was to go GOP.

Go to the worse for a total two-year gridlock to send a message? That's a bit extreme, isn't it? Where is a reasonable, alternative party that is not a splinter cell of any of the two major groups? That's my biggest question and complaint actually. I wouldn't want to vote Obama into office either, but there is no alternative.

You're preaching to a Union guy. We're supposed to be automatic votes for the Dems. I'm not the only one that voted the "wrong way".
If the GOP plays their cards right, that's a big IF. Come 2016 I'd bet the GOP could exhume Dick Nixon and win the White House over any Dem candidate.

They have to rely on Hillary messing up in a big way to win. At least that's what I think. And maybe not be totally gridlocking Washington. Then they might have a chance.

Hillary? Hillary Rodham Clinton?
One Illinois Democratic President is enough.
If she's the top choice you need to embrace President Christie right now.

As another outsider that's I find incomprehensible as well, the two-party system. That, and the from my perspective extremist views of one of the parties. Having said that, I do image a two party system breeds extreme views.

It depends, really. The UK's had a two-party-ish system for ages - it's more like four parties at the moment, but two are significantly more powerful than any of the others - and one of the more significant issues in voter apathy within British politics is that the major parties are seen as far too similar to one-another.
