One of my neighbors has a maroon 06 QP and another has a black 2012 QP. The guy with the maroon one just lets it sit in his garage (or under a tree while it rains) and I've only seen him drive it twice in the past 2 years, and he babies it at that. The guy in the black one though, he leaves the neighborhood and lets that Italian V8 rip. Sounds SO good.

Rotary and radial engines look strikingly similar when they are not running and can easily be confused, since both have cylinders arranged radially around a central crankshaft. Unlike the rotary engine, however, radial engines use a conventional rotating crankshaft in a fixed engine block.

I did not know that there were rotary engines of that type, you learn something new everyday. I would still say that a rotary of the kind you mean is still technically a radial, just one that rotates.

I think we should just clarify what type of rotary engine we mean, since wankels are ingrained as THE rotary engine to car people.

That is considered a radial. All rotaries are Wankels, or at least follow the same principle.

All Wankels are rotaries, but not every rotary is a wankel, like WWI planes

The front end on the Quattroporte has always struck me as odd. It's like they took an old F1 car from the 50s and surrounded it with a modern sedan. Like, say, this Maserati 250F.

I mean, you could also say it's trying to look like the original Quattroporte.
Personally I think the 5th gen Quattroporte looks better after the facelift it got in 2009, especially in Sport GT S form.
The overall look of the front fascia, while being pretty similar to the pre-facelift version, just flows a lot better. Mostly around the headlights (which are bigger), the surfaces directly below the leading edge of the headlights, which smoothed out compared to having that kinda "bumper" ridge below them on the original version. Also the bottom of the fascia has been straightened out and is less lumpy looking, along with the speed holes in the bottom of the fascia.
In the same color, from similar angles, you get the idea.
