If I were to change my steering wheel from the stock MKVI JSW one to a MKVII GTI wheel, would I be able to retain the stock airbag? Just a theoretical question as my current wheel isn't doing so well with my spirited driving and autocrossing :/
The reason I am asking here is because I can't find ANYTHING on Google :(
HELP!

Looks different, I'd just get the entire wheel with airbag if I were you.

Something like this?

Holy shit, that's a lot of money. That one is for the DSG or whatever it's called also, so some changes would need to be made.
Hit up VWVortex or something?

The thing is that the only ones on there are ridiculously overpriced! They either want like 600+ with airbag or 400 without an airbag :( USED
The one on eBay is brand new...

I mean for advice on airbag/wiring :)

Ah, I could do that ;) I'm now just considering keeping only the JSW through college and just modifying it!
Lowering springs (maybe)
Anti-sway bars (definitely)
Wheels and tires (18x8.5, 245/40r18)
short throw shifter
panzer plate (so I can go rally crossing)
dpf delete
downpipe and exhaust
other bits and pieces

There ya go, Best idea yet.

Thanks! I could do all of that (minus the wheels and springs) for around $1.2k (possibly less if I didn't do the downpipe and exhaust) but I also forgot the Malone Stage 2 tune (170WHP and 310WTQ approx) which would run around $500 :/ still pretty good bang for my buck ;)

Haha, All that sounds pretty great. For what it is, you're getting a pretty great package.

Gah, I had no idea the DPF delete was THAT expensive D:

Lol, doesn't hurt to ask.
Just don't Silvestro it if you care about resale, Haha.

Def: Take a new-ish car and beat the living fuck out of it, and then think of all the hell the next owner will have to endure.

LOL well.... I plan on keeping my JSW as long as it will still move under it's own power ;) 79k miles and counting! (remember, I'm 17 and have been driving it since it was new... I have a connection with it. Like this)
![]() 11/01/2014 at 23:08 |

Now I'm looking into how to make a custom DPF delete pipe... shit the bug bit me!

insetad of the malone tune, why not APR? theirs you can swtich from power to eco...didnt see that on the malone stuff
![]() 11/09/2014 at 20:30 |

Because with the Malone tune, it is both at the same time (it lets the engine breathe more freely). TBH I don't understand the whole ECO tune thing :/ Why not get one that let's you have fun and still have economy?
Also, the Malone tune is cheaper (I think) and there is a Malone approved tuner 15 mins from my house (he also does APR, but told me he prefers Malone, he didn't elaborate)

Eco: better MPGs for the commute. save money for MORE PARTS!
yea, you will get better MPGs with the power tune too...but not as many as the eco tune.
letting the motor breath better is less the tune and more the intake/exhaust. APR is 600 IIRC...and it gives you left foot braking and no limiter (not sure if malones does that too)
I know if you do the trans tune with APR you also get launch control. (for DSG anyways)
![]() 11/09/2014 at 20:46 |

Yep, Malone does that too. By breathing more freely I meant it derestricts the exhaust system (best results are if you do a DPF and EGR delete)
I don't have DSG ;) I have the Jalop Edition Tornado Red 2011 Jetta Sportwagen TDI 6M :D

yea. the Audis only came with the DSG.
There is a SMALL chance that the audi may fall to me...if so, I'll have to look into malones or APR...I liek that APR installs it through the OBD2 port and can be changed in the fly though the cars controls...but Malhones offers more HP. but on the other hand, emissions testing is a thing here in canada...

*of happenings!*

lol. the chances of me getting that car are VERY slim. I mean I'm proabbly going to buy a V6 accord coupe next year before he finally decides if he wants to keep it or sell it.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 20:56 |

Meh, will it be a Manuel?
![]() 11/09/2014 at 20:58 |

yep. 2006/7 accord V6 coupe. IDK why, but i REALLY liked that gen. Mom liked them too, so it might be easier to convince her to help me get one :P
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:00 |

Get one then! Am I correct in assuming that you are around my age? (17-19)
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:01 |

yep. 19 right now, turning 20 in feb.
DAT BOOTY
the only issue is insurance. I dont have the cleanest of driving records, and its a 2 door. ADN i'm in canada, which RAPE S you up the rear when it comes to insurance...
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:08 |

Oh, I live in KS (who woulda thunk?) and I (somehow) have a clean record :/ not sure how though... yet the insurance company is charging my parents somewhere between $250 and $400 per month for full coverage :( WTF insurance companies? Sexist much?
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:12 |
|
yea...canadian insurance is worse.
I have a 2000 saab kicking around somewhere...I might turn it into a chump car machine. but I askd for a quote when (admittingly) I was a bit young, and only had my G2 (full permit is G)
the CHEAPEST company wanted 450 a month for BASIC coverage. for full, it would have been something like 1000 a month. for a 2000 saab 93 (base...for 185 HP motor) with a 4 speed auto. SERIOUSLY?!?!
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:13 |

Shit... I got nothin
![]() 11/09/2014 at 21:14 |

yea. you americans have it easy in terms of insurance.
which i find intresting...because our healthcare stuff is handled by the gov...not insurance companies.....
