So, a friend sent me these pictures today and I thought I would use them for a game. What is this Ferrari?

Close. It's from the 250 family.

Looks like some 250 California variant. Honestly I would be sweatin balls parking this on the street...so maybe a very good kit car? Seriously though this would be a +$million car if real.

Are we sure it's a Ferrari?
It's not on fire!

You are correct, it is a kit car. However, it's actually quite well done. I'll explain how you can tell in a bit.

It really is done well. Kudos to who did that.
Now that that's been revealed, the answer is always miata.

For comparison: a bad kit car.

Methink that may be of the Fiero variety. Or at least, not of the actual Ferrari variety.

For all of those wondering, this is a kit car and not a real Ferrari. The overall car is meant to mimic the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder but actually has some cues from its sister the 250 LM.
For starters, the nose (specifically the grille opening) is much more similar to a 250 LM than a California Spyder:
Second, the headlights are too flat. A California Spyder has headlights that are more rounded:
Third, the side air extractors aren't deep enough.
Fourth, the wheels should have a deep dish to them.
Fifth, the taillights should be two individual lights with one being amber and the other being red.
Finally, the California Spyder had a dash mounted rear view mirror.
There are a few other things that I didn't mention (like the fuel filler location) but this should give you a good idea of how to spot that it is a fake. Overall though, I'm very impressed with whoever did it, especially with how well they recreated that iconic rear haunch.

I know. It came out quite well didn't it?

Judging by the windshield/frame and how far back that steering column protrudes I would guess it's C3 Vette based. Not a bad kit, that overly square hood scoop kills it to me.

I think it's a Modena Design and Research kit car. They're the ones who created the Ferris Bueller car.
Here's my guide to telling it's a fake:

Definitely a Fauxrarri...
