Sixty, to be precise. Sixty?? Yes indeed. Thirty that take you forwards and thirty (yes, you're ahead of me!) that take you backwards.
As we expect having got this far there are multiple gearboxes involved. The main lever selects five gears, none of which is reverse (we'll get back to that) which the driver is glad to learn are synchromesh while he has a pair of buttons for his thumb which choose between three ranges for each of these five speeds. That get us as far as 5x3 speeds. From here we have a further high and low range, bringing us to 30. Below the steering wheel we find a forward/reverse shuttle which allows us to switch between forward and rearward progress without the inconvenience of having to declutch. Just slow to about walking speed, push or pull the lever and you change direction without further ado. Why do you want to do this? Because this is an agricultural tractor and you may well find yourself shuttling back and forth with bucketloads of farmyard materials. As this is a function separate from the various gears we therefore have a forward and a reverse variation of each of the thirty speeds
When working we choose one of the main gears accompanied by high or low split and then we use the thumb operated buttons just visible on the gear knob to provide three variations of whatever one of these ten gears we have selected. These three speeds have a powershift feature so we can change on the move and under power which slightly unexpectedly means that this machine sounds as if it's a conventional automatic.
So there we have it . Sixty gears without any especial difficulty in using them.

I'm gonna keep being ahead of you if you keep using 30 damn reverse gears.

Haul this up and go forwards. Push it and go back again.

Seemingly so. The driver is no doubt kept busy with 60 gears.
