True Story: she bought that place in RI and I was out vacationing along the Easy Coast. Stopped in a bar one night and there was some bar trivia going on and some acoustic guitar duo was setting up for their 10 PM show. People were buzzing and looking over to the corner.
There was Tay-lah, just chillin with some seriously huge dudes.
It's sad when you need security to get drunk at bar trivia.

I appreciate her roots-y stuff from the beginning (even 15 year old Taylor struck some chords in this old heart)...I think she is just growing as an artist, trying new stuff. If anything Taylor is a master tactician and craft-er of her image; while Beyonce seems to have the market cornered now, I think Taylor will have a longer arc of celebrity because she knows how to grow with her audience (you can see the way that she sheds her naive personality with Red and, while paying tribute to the 80s style she liked as a kid, she is going a different direction here)...my guess is that her next album or the one after will have more country style as she pays homage (10 year anniversary?) to her roots.
The thing that drives me nuts is just how many people seem to imagine that she is some product of a PR machine rather than being the originator in a new style of social media aware singer. She is not a great singer (frankly most of those folks who get trotted out in comparison really aren't when you compare them to say a classicly trained mezzo-soprano) but she writes her own stuff and frankly I think she knows how to keep her fans interested. I give her all the credit I think she has earned.

It really is a shame...celebrity and its trappings. That is why hockey stars and F1 racers have it so much better :-)

I'd like for Kanye and Chance the Rapper to both drop their new albums. Oh and to do well on my thursday Econ midterm, but other than that life sounds good!

Except Taylor doesn't get concussions/broken bones/deathly crashes.

There's an interesting article on jezebel if you're willing to go there exploring if her less sexualized image has allowed her more spotlight longevity and credence.
