Imagine you had the expertise and ability to cobble together your very own supercar using components from some of the best in history. What would you do?
Let's throw cost, time, physics, metallurgy, and any other impediment out the window and see what we come up with.
Here are the rules:
You can take the chassis, powertrain (or even pick the engine from one and transmission from another), and body from any supercar past or present and put them together to make your ideal unholy creation.
Go!

mine has possibly already been done:
that's this engine:

Alfa Montreal body, TDI from an Audi R18 (somehow made street legal), all wheel drive from a gen 1 quattro with manual locking center and rear diffs. Yeah, that

A Maserati Bora with a Moran Motorsports 2000+ HP BBC Crate Motor, with all add-ons, and Mclaren 12C Suspension, and a gated t-56. Rolling on Pirelli Pzero Corsas, wrapped around HRE 454s

It would be McLaren 650S engine and suspension with Ferrari F40 fizz, with a 6-speed manual gearbox in a shooting brake body.

Take everything from the Ferrari F40 and then... that's it. That's all I want. Lol

Super car ? Naw, fuck that.
1 School Bus
4 Enzo V12s. GO BIG OR GO HOME

It's been done already.

You have once again convinced me that you've gone mad.

I read your post and I was like
"school bus... Ok, I think I can buy why you're selling."
"Ferrari motor? Are you sure?"
"Oh, 4 Ferrari motors, yeah, now I'm on board."

I'll just take a Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione.
Weighs about 2000 lbs, has about 630 crazily turbocharged horsepower, and a mid-80s American land yacht front end.

I want this one
But with my own wheels
I mean, come on. Tiny little car, great big V8, lots of german steel, and a stock wooden shift knob! What's not to love??? Add the wheels that I searched the globe for (literally) and you have yourself a winning combination.

One day, you'll be at a cars and coffee and a school bus making strange engine noises will pull up with a ferrari shield on it, and THEN WE'LL SEE WHO'S GONE MAD!

Haha. Please park it next to the other Ferrari owners.

I am a simple man with simple needs. Gimme a modernized state of the art Callaway GTV-6. I figure with a 24v 3.2l upgrade and some bigger turbos should yield at least 350hp.

I think school busses only come with 1 fire extinguisher, though. You should probably get 3 more.

Though the insanity has been laying dormant as of late, a few days ago the flame was warming. Take one BMW E23 7 Series...
... and add one BMW V12 (M70/M73 hybrid):
I wrote it up here . I think I have most of the math worked out. I was kind of off the idea for a while, but... yeah. I want to build this.

What engine is that?
![]() 10/28/2014 at 16:15 |

Mercury 1650. 9.0L DOHC Twin Turbo stern drive marine engine.

Interesting choice for a track/super car engine. Is it cast iron or aluminum?
![]() 10/28/2014 at 16:29 |
|
The spec sheet says 1720 lbs so I'm guessing cast iron. Not really saving you much in the weight department but it makes some crazy numbers.

This frame/suspension:
This body:
This engine:
and you'll probably need these:
![]() 10/28/2014 at 16:32 |

That is insane weight. You'd be better off with a Duramax or a Cummins, if you want those numbers. You'd be saving weight.
![]() 10/28/2014 at 16:43 |
|
The cummins is around 1100 lbs so yeah, it's lighter but the highest power rating is still less than 400 hp and 800ish ft-lb of torque. The 1650 is way more than that. If I was going to do a crazy diesel, the sound of the Detroit Diesel 12V71 is unlike anything else:
The video is of a tractor at a tractor pull but they used to put these things in trucks too.

Koeniggsegg one:1 with mclaren p1 hybrid system, 3 seat layout of the mclaren f1, handling of a clk gtr amg, and the sound of a amg.

Didn't say you had to keep it stock.

/pull up next to a guy in a california
you say, " I bet I could smoke you with this bus"
he says, " o really? give me a break. at least you're not in a peugot"
/drag races and beats him in the quarter mile doing 178 mph in 5.4 seconds
![]() 10/28/2014 at 16:51 |

For me, I'd take a Lotus....add 1000hp, make it do 200+ and make it in America....a modern day GT40 if you will.
Oh wait....

12V72? Pfft. Why not a 20V149? That's only about 48.8 liters, 3 engine blocks, 3 crankshafts bolted together, 6 turbos, 3 intercoolers, and about 2500 horsepower.
