I pulled a coil pack off the SL600 Sport, and it was easy to get to.
My spark plug socket doesnt fit though. Do you guys use something special, or do I just have a socket thats too long?
Im going to do an oil change and air filters as well, but the plugs arent looking so easy right now. Any advice?

Thin wall Spark plug socket with a wobble extension or a U joint with extension?

Maybe that would work. The problem is that the retaining clip for the coil pack takes up some of the room, and makes it harder to get a socket down into the spark plug tube. Then, once I get the spark plug free, that's going to add some length and require more angle to remove.

Do you ever have to take the intake plenum off? AMGtech said I shouldn't have to. I'll take another look tomorrow at some point.

yeah that stays on. You can just go in between them.

Alright, I'll take another look at it and see. It's a tight fit, may need to get a spark plug socket just for this...

Yikes that is a awkward tight spot.

I found that, a little more affordable for me compared to Snap On tools... Should work, right? It's just for spark plugs, so I don't see why I would run into problems with it, and plenty long enough for me to avoid issues with reach, so I hope...

Hey I made it! Better late than never I guess. Looks like you've mostly got it covered by now though.
I just use a normal (14mm, not 5/8") chrome spark plug socket with a really long wobbly extension.
And as far as any other tips go, just be careful with wiring as it can be brittle. And I always recommend Mercedes oil filters, even compared to Mann filters they seem to be much nicer and fit better. Don't forget a new drain plug washer.
Good luck and happy wrenching!
