Figured I'd make my first post! And of course it's a project car post.
I picked up a 1994 FZJ80 at the beginning of October, with somewhat scary (based on initial appearance) electrical issues. It got low voltage, the A/T Oil Temp light was on, as was the low oil light + most of the electrics inside were slow to respond/unresponsive. The price was so good, and it was in such good condition for the mileage that I couldn't say no (2300). My dad and I narrowed it down to a roasted alternator, and low and behold as soon as it was replaced, all the warning lights went away, and the windows actually operated (and the ones that did, worked much faster). Here it is as it sat when it arrived at my house.

It had sketchy brakes + no parking brake when we picked it up, so today was spent finding the roots of those problems. Turns out it needs new E-Brake Hardware and Shoes + front and rear pads. Not as bad I was expecting! You can see the only serious cancer in this photo here; that will be fixed ASAP. Overall not bad for a truck with 176k miles living in the Northeast!

More progress updates are sure to follow in the coming weeks. Other than the brakes, an exhaust leak from the manifold downpipes needs to be mended, and that cancer spot. (also, if anyone has any tips for refinishing those wheels, let me know! They have new tires as per previous owner so I don't want to replace them quite yet.)

I was thinking that. It looks like the aluminum may be oxidizing though so I dunno how PD would take to it. I do have some experience with that, I did the wheels on my mustang in PD.

It's astonishing how well taken care of it is. Hell it's in better shape than some cars I've seen with 50k miles.

Is that your Mustang? That looks great!

Plastidip will fill in the bumps and cracks and such from the oxidation. Just use a few extra coats

It's grown on me; I actually didn't want to buy it at first. I originally wanted either a Fox Mustang (blame my friend for that) or a Fox based Capri; Main pick would have been an 87 RX7 Turbo 2, but it sold the day before I was going to look at it. So it fell into my lap. Not complaining now but for a little while I was disappointed lol.
