I was on craigslist, looking through manual $1200 cars, business as usual, and then this happened
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Not only is it a two door, which is rare enough in Western Canada, but it's manual?? I care not even a little bit about Oldsmobile Aleros, but this one piqued my interest because I feel like this is finding a cat with naturally blue fur or something.

I'm 99% sure it didn't at least on the sedan version.

Huh...well there's a picture of the interior and sure enough it's a stick, but maybe that's why I haven't seen a non-auto, I only see sedans here

"5-Speed Getrag F23 manual "
Apparently so

That is extremely strange.

Yup, Getrag F23 5speed manual. Hard to find, though. Almost as hard to find as a Chevy Lumina Z34 with the manual

Heck yeah same as in the Grand Am, Cav, and Sunfire.

Weird....I looked again and there's two more in my area

I don't think it's rare I think it's just that no one really cares that they exist.

Is it a 2004? Talk about an investment. Seriously, in 40 years those Oldsmobiles will be half a century old, and collectors' items (because they're the end of the line)

I've driven one when I was a mechanic. It's the lowest spec trim and it's the same shifter as in the cavalier and opel cousins. It's rubbery, vague, and has a weirdly non-linear clutch.

They also sold the Alero in Europe and Israel as a Chevy. But with Olds badges. And I bet you some of those came with MT's, too.

Manual was available on the base 4 cyl models. Either the early 2.4l or the later and more reliable 2.2. The V6 was auto only. They were good little cars. Check for rust under the rocker in front of the rear wheels. If the abs and Trac off lights are illuminated on the dash it needs a new wheels bearing. Easy diy fix. $125 part. I used to own a V6 one. Ask if you have more questions.

That's the Alero OSV. Before the brand was axed Olds was toying with creating an in-house tuning & parts brand, a la Mopar. The Alero was powered by a supercharged I-4, and they did OSV versions of the Intrigue and Silhouette as well.

It..it doesn't look bad, I don't think I've ever not hated an Alero before. But that's interesting, I had no idea OSV was ever almost a thing

If you think that's good, this is the original concept for the Alero.
