I might be shopping for a Cappuccino... or something else...

Why not this?

"or something else..." ;)
I do need a car within the next 2 months... That will depend on how much money I can make until then.

Don't lie. You're definitely looking at Skylines.

I would love a busa-ccino

I am, I am... but I would most likely go for a R32 and not a R34 if I were to buy a Skyline. I would WANT a GT-r, but I'm not a fan of 4WD cars, so the R32 is kind of the only solution for me with its 10seconds-4WD-to-RWD conversion...
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:16 |

Very cool. Why are the 4wd conversions more difficult on the R34s?

Go for a Honda Beat - the forgotten mid-engined Honda.

Yes, to make it overly simple, that implies removing and changing quite a few things, while on a R32, you just remove a fuse :)
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:21 |

Nah, I want something properly fun, not something scary that will actually end up killing me lol

Too slow... I have nothing against slow cars, they can be tremendous fun, but 0 to 60 in 12s, when I come from a 0 to 50 in 5.1s car is just too steep of change... The Cappuccino is very similar, but quite a bit faster...
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:23 |
|
So you're saying you want something thats crap-your-pants fun but only on your terms?
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:24 |

Wow, i didn't realize that the Beat was so slow. In that case, you should grab a Cappuccino. Just make sure to let it cool down before enjoying it.

No, it's just that a 330hp car that weights 700kg is just too much for me to truly have fun with :)
If I were to buy one, I'll probably modify it for it to do about 120 to 130hp, and that will be MOOORE than enough for it to be a great combination of fun/fast but not suicidal :)
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:26 |

Interesting.
Would you modify it?
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:28 |

To let it warm up before enjoying it, that would be better ;)
And yes, the Cappuccino is a Turbo car while the Beat is NA... Big difference right there... a 3cyl 0.6L turbo engine can move... A NA one on the other hand...

There was a recent Top Gear that mentioned a similar situation. A regular car was racing around the track against a hyper car and they mentioned how the hyper car you have to drive so much more carefully because it has so much insane power. The regular car though you could thrash about because you know where its limit is and you wont surpass it.

Nope, stock, I like my cars stock... Only type of car I would modify engine wise and suspension wise, would be a Cappuccino, because 64hp is a bit low... Fun, sure, but considering that a basic complete Turbo kit that would bring 100hp to it costs 1500$ only, there are no reasons not to do it :)
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:34 |

Wow that is a terrific value.
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:37 |

Yup, pretty much correct... I have driven some pretty fast modified cars, it's just not for me. Not to mention, that actually building something else than an engine on wheels would cost A LOT of money.
A 330hp Cappuccino COULD be enjoyable (by that I mean, doing something else with it than accelerating on a straight line or doing donuts) and not suicidal (after all, I have driven shifter gokarts with an equivalent power to weight ratio), but that would imply 10s of thousands of dollars in term of Aero mods for such a heavier car and tires that certainly kill its road legal capabilities...

It is... They are even located fairly close from my home.

So you're not considering the turbocharged RWD models?
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:41 |

Nice.
How long have you lived in Japan?
![]() 10/25/2014 at 20:44 |

Nah, question of principles haha :)
If I were to get a Skyline, it would just HAVE to be a GT-r... Only way I could buy another model is if it were a cheap ass GTS-t R32 for like 3000$... But if I'm gonna put that much money on a car, I would want the best/greatest one of them, with also the best reasale value.

My wife is japanese, so I've been doing round trips with Japan for the past 9 years (I'm only 30years old though ;) ), but I've only moved in for good 2 months ago.

Oh. Well, I hope you are enjoying it.

I am haha :)

I see. I'd prefer the GTS-t to the 90 HP R32 that's been discussed here sometimes, but I can understand wanting the best. All we get here in the States are the post-R34 Skylines as the Infiniti G/Q60.

I know I used to live in the US and then Canada ;)
Damn 25 year rule... Need more freedom I guess haha ;)
