For those that might remember my introduction post, I mentioned that my grandpa has restored three trucks (a 1936 Chevy, a little younger White, and the above).
His black Scottsdale was purchased new in 1976 and was his daily driver for 30-plus years before they found oil on land he owned in Oklahoma in 2007, leading him to buy a new Silverado.
The truck has been restored twice and still looks amazing. It doesn't get driven quite as much these days, but my brother has been using it lately.
When I got old enough to drive I told my parents I wanted one just like it. I realized that wasn't very practical (no cruise control or AC!) and my 01 Silverado has served me well over the last 9 years and 220,000 miles.

Does he still have the 36?

Either the 36 Chevy or the White is in a barn on the farm in Oklahoma and the other is in a museum. Even though we talked about it this past weekend, I don't remember which is where. I do remember he said the truck in the barn needs some work. Sitting in a barn for a few years will do that.

"no cruise control or A/C"
What are these?!

Something us youngsters like to have when we're driving 6-8 hours across Texas and/or Oklahoma in July.

who needs cruise control?

My favorite bodystyle! Although I'm a fleetside man myself. My Dad had a '79 K-10 when I was a kid.

This pickup always made me want a step side bed. Kind of glad I didn't get one... though I secretly want them to make a step side Colorado.

I know, I know. Very un-Oppo of me. It's just nice on a DD. Wouldn't matter to me on a fun driver.

I just dont like the Idea of a car doing something for me, DD or not. I wanna be in complete control of the car's functions

I understand that. On the winding backroad we take to my in-laws I refuse to cruise but the wife does. Really bugs me. On an interstate thats not bumper to bumper, it's nice to take my foot off the pedal.

I guess it would be nice, but it would make the drive more boring

It's boring anyway with everybody going 75 in a straight line

In Colorado, the majority of our highways have curves, its quite nice. and the speed limit is 65, but everybody goes 85 after 7pm

I'm jelly. I live in WA but our summers are getting more hellish every year. Traffic is bad so it's like sitting in a 5mph oven.

No such luck in my part of the world. Long stretches of straight interstates. It's brutal.

I think you'll have to do that custom.
