When I was in new york, our hotel was over a six "lane" one way road. This is the most organized I saw it over a 5 day period:

So did our hotel, but we left the window open for that authentic NYC experience. I don't remember where the hotel was. 6th avenue could be it.

Ha, NYPD doesn't give a shit about traffic laws. They're always blocking bus and bike lanes. And they're not actually doing anything, they're just here to give the circle a "police presence" given the events in Canada today. But also if they weren't there it would be filled with taxis waiting for fares... bus drivers must sigh a lot.

I wasn't born until 13 years after the last checker cab was made, so that doesn't really resonate with me. But I own a Panther and am sad to see them being replaced by vans.

It's very sad, but honestly it's happening so gradually that it's hard to notice on a daily basis, which is even sadder. Three months go by and you then see a wave of yellow Camrys sweeping down the road and suddenly you go "Wait a second..."
