I don't get why any of this DMV bullshit happens in the US. Here in the UK, registration is by post, tax is by post or online, licence renewal is by post and so on...

Because our DMVs are run by states and our state governments are usually at least a decade behind the times. They still charge a convenience fee for paying tickets online even though it's cheaper and easier than the DMV office.

It can't get worse than in states where you need to notarize sales. Because, you know, it's so easy to buy and sell cars during bank hours.

Here's a trick that I learned recently: You can use an amazon purchase on your phone as proof of address
