Running pikes peak at racing speeds even today is shrivelingly dangerous. But could you imagine doing it in a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? It was long, narrow, and sported bicycle tires.

In 1920 this Lexington won at Pikes Peak, and the following year its sales doubled. Racing in those days really did shed some light on who was making a good car. Heck, if a car could even finish Pikes Peak in 1920, that was a pretty definite indicator of a vehicle's quality.

Reading history on courses like these makes me realize that I really don't have what it takes to race cars. I'd happily accept a little bit of guidance from ESC system when I'm on a dirt road, on a cliff, doing 80. That is if I were to ever would be willing to go 80 on a dirt road on a cliff. That's a big if, but not for this guy:
