Is this the part of the movie where the monster pops out and the car refuses to start?

While that's neat, he dropped it off with 90,250 miles on it.

I've only read the book, I haven't seen the movie.
So to answer your question, yeah.

Hope they finally explain where cars come from in this movie. Ive been waiting 20 freakin' years for an explanation. Nothing so far beyond telling us they come from these 'engineers', but I hope the explanation is more detailed than that.
WAIT...who wrote the book? *Google's Book title, David Lindelof's name pops up*

And your next clue, with 00101010 to ASCII being:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Here, take this with you.
If you're confused, look up what "101010" is in binary.

At least they didn't take it for a joyride, realize the odometer gave them away, then jack it up, put it in reverse, and put a brick on the pedal, thus propelling the car straight through a glass wall into a ravine.

I hate computers in cars. My tranny has one. My engine has one. Even the fucking body has a sub-cortex fuse box level logic-ness to it. if (this) then (that & the other thing) allow starter (but only if specific dealie). And no way to find out what they are "thinking" except to eliminate everything else.
Crap. I'm going back to school. Wanna hack new cars. Want libraries, toolboxes, languages and diagnostics for DWIM NWIS (do what I mean not what I say.)

Maybe this has a Hitchhikers connection? Don't panic, I'll look it up later.

This is the most cryptic response to any post ever. 11/10. Congratulations, you've achieved the impossible.

YOU hate computers in cars? I just paid $900 to replace this one and it came back to me with this Christine-like odometer. Rat bastards.

Yes, it is. 101010 is binary for 42. 42 is the answer to the universe.

I know. There's the "why did you have to complicate it so much" design question. But there's also the "why don't you give us access to these things, or at least make them customizable for anyone with a little knowledge about tech".
The latter is them saying, we know best, you're too stupid, you'll mess it up, etc. Hey - they put factory reset buttons on other gear so the mess it up thing doesn't count. Computers aren't exactly unknown in the universe so the inappropriate tech question is out. And they know best? Empirical evidence states otherwise.
