You can do much more porting on a 13b as well. It would be better overall.

If I remember correctly Mazda had plans of shoving the 13B into Miata so they reserved plenty of space for it in the body shell. Correct me if I'm wrong in this.

I searched for more info but didn't find much. The rumor at least applies to NC Miata that has enough tall transmission tunnel to fit a wankel engine and the transmission with quite easy modifications. It also share a lot of parts with RX-8 so other parts can be borrowed too.
