Holy damn, do it! I do have a soft spot for that generation of 9-3s. The first Saab I ever rode in was an '01 9-3 convertible and it blew me away. I was already infatuated with the brand and knew a good deal about them, but that first ride was life-changing. The back seat was like being nestled in an egg. Pure awesome stuff. I just really started learning about the Barber Saab series, and it's giving me ideas of what to do with my '06 9-5 SportCombi.
Rip the fenders down and cut the springs, add some aero and slap some slick Hoosiers on it. A dash of red paint later and I've got a badass open-wheeler. The real dream for me is a Viper-powered Saab wagon:

I rrememebr that viper. guy in norway bought a crashed viper to rebuild. under estimated cost of viper panels and what not. built a saab wagon on top of it instead. KICK ass machine.
As for my saab...you have no idea how tempted I am...the POS has been sitting for 5 years now, and i really dont think It make sense to but it back on the road. but uni stunder budget = bleh
