Over a 97 miles and nearly a quarter tank of gas (I have 5/16ths of a tank left and I factored this in), I'm getting 11.5 MPG combined.
So the plugs and stuff have made a little bit of a difference, but that's still abysmally bad for a high schooler to be paying to fill.
I love the big brute but it drinks gas.
I need to swap this with this or something similar:

Are you using fuelly?

Look into a Fiat. the 40mpg (and up!) makes the tiny size worth it!

Is yours the vortec or the TBI 4.3?

What's Fuelly?

I'd love to, but whatever I eventually buy would have to be used and older. Because broke high schooler budget.

It's the 4.3 with CPI. Non-VorTec

TBI.

Fill your tank and enter your mileage every time and it calculates your fuel economy very accurately and tracks it for you. Also shares fuel data so you can compare to other people with the same cars.

Being a TBI, it probably isn't that far off from the right mileage. That's a lot of weight for that engine to work with. Serious question, have you thought about removing the extra seats when you don't need them?

-11.5? :)

That's a great idea actually. I'm signing up.

There are used fiats out there. And they really dont hold their value. Look into it, you may even be able to find one named Manuél

I loved using it when I was commuting because I drove so much I had enough data to make meaningful differences. One time I got up to 48 mpg out of my Mazda 3.

I'm signing up right now. Seems super useful.

Your avatar picture is awesome, just thought I'd throw that out there.
And that gas mileage seems a bit low but not so bad that I'm shocked about it. It's not like those were built with fuel economy in mind, after all.

Gross. I get pissy when my car gets under 25, lol. Have you looked into Malibus with the Ecotec? I know you are a GM guy. Those get decent MPGs and are one of the more solid recent GM products.

Still getting better than me...

That's a lot of bolting and unbolting. My need for seats change from day to day.

I'd kill for 25!
Haven't actually. I'm assuming you mean the '07(8?)-'12 generation.

Yeah it's really great especially if you want to fine tune your driving style or figure out who's selling crap gas.

That's understandable. It was just a weight saving idea, not a good one apparently, but an idea. Just remove all the doors, you definitely don't need them.

I've always wanted a jeep with no doors.
Screw it, I'm taking the doors off and chopping the roof.

I wanna go get gas now so I can use it...

My car doesn't tell me what I get so this is perfect. I don't usually take my car to empty, does it take how much gas you put in the next time to calculate your MPG's?

Just wait for this guy!

He speaks the truth!! Fuelly is awesome. Only takes a minute to add fuel fills...

Correct. The 2008 through 2012 were decent and fairly affordable. We had a 2006 and it was terrible. So stay away from that generation. But my friend has a 2012 LTZ and it rocks.

My best friend's old Astro was getting 9 to 11 mpg... That thing was awesome though.

They're always awesome when you don't pay for the gas. I loved it until I was footing the fuel bill!

The Astra does look quite good.
