Bronze drum brakes and... frame?
I kinda like it.

Nope, drums come in 2 colors. Rust or black.

I've thought about painting my drums black so they stop getting surface rust. But I have body rust and paint issues that are of a higher priority.

Mine are both.

2 tone!

I always have a bit of a chuckle when people go all out to paint drums.

Because I like to be pedantic. That is a trailing arm.

I don't know why, but I get the feeling that someone customized their mother's car. What is it? Looks like a sedan on some cheap and terrible "mods".

Aah, ok. Hmm, perhaps I could paint mine so they'd stop rusting.

Only if you use a contrasting color.

They come silver on new Ford Focuses.

Wait 2 winters and they'll be rust.

Well, all my other accents are red, and I happen to have some red rustoleum lying around...

This problem is solving itself!

Could Brembo make performance drums in bronze color?

What kind of car?
![]() 10/16/2014 at 13:47 |

Cross drilled and slotted drums.....I don't think so...

I just looked, and my car does not actually have trailing arms. I have no idea what I was thinking of.

Think again. I didn't know that these exist but I did Google them anyway.

Cupcakes?

Red spray-painted rustoleum cupcakes.

My favorite!

Is that a Jetta?

No idea. Pic from reddit.

Either a Jetta or a minivan of some sort... I do know that MK6 and earlier Jettas used drums...

It's a MKVI Jetta. Likely a 2.5 model. My '12 TDI has rear disks and the same trailing arms.

So would my TDI have disks? 2011 MY...

Possibly. They did some weird things in the name of making them cheaper. It might depend on the trim level as well. Mine is a mid level trim. There was the base TDI, TDI Premium, and TDI Premium Plus. My sister in law had an '11 2.5 SE (which was the same Toffee Brown Metalic as the one pictured, incidently) and it had rear drums. There are so many weird variations between '11 and '14 Jettas. I'm glad the next gen will be MQB based.

Well mine is a Sportwagen, so it would actually be based on the Golf TDI lol
![]() 10/16/2014 at 14:38 |

Which it the other weird thing they did. They just kept on making the MKV Sportwagens, which is good in retrospect. I bet it has rear disks.
Also, I'm pretty excited for the new Jetta/Golf Variant Sportwagen! I am considering one for my next car in around 4ish years. If Mazda gets their shit together with the Skyactive Diesel and brings it to the US though, it will be a tough choice.

The color says Jetta to me.

Looks like a Jetta to me
