Great car. One day I will own one, and will T56 swap for S&G's.

T56. For give my lack of knowledge is the T56 an engine or a transmission?

Six speed manual trans. 93-97 version will work perfectly with the Impala's LT1.

Beauty. This swap is approved. Let me know when you're done so I can come by with my auto wrecker and take the car and admire your handy work.

These have aged very well. There's a green one down the street from me, that hasn't moved the entire 4-1/2 years I've lived in this neighborhood. It looked perfect then, but now it's on four flats, and the rear bumper trim is hanging off.

Oh dear. We must save it.

I want to, but that would require selling my Buick. The Impala is parked in front of a really nice looking 3-car garage, which I have never seen open. I can't help but wonder, what is in that garage?

Yeah I saw your Buick write up the other day. Badass.

Honestly, in the garage is probably just crap, you'd be surprised at what crap people would leave in their garage and park on the street.

However, I used to have a neighbour who street parked a $100,000 brand new Carrera 4. One day he opened his garage. He had TWO Detomaso Pantera's! That was awesome.

You're gonna need a lot more than the stock 3.07 to pull the .50 sixth in a T56. The last one I drove with a T56 was essentially a 5 speed. Never had enough torque to pull sixth.

Also, these with a stick aren't as much fun as you think. It doesn't fit the personality of the car.

It makes me feel old that a 1996 is considered a classic...

Yeah, the rear would need attention (hey, at least it's an 8.5") but

A) I'd probably go 3.73 or 4.10 anyway

B) I was never really a fan of the 1-2 of the 4L60E. Great trans regardless, just don't like the RPM drop.

I know the T56 would slow it down off the line, too. Been in both a stocker and T56 car and while I get what you are saying it's something I preferred.

Thank you!

It's true, many people have garages full of junk, and park their expensive cars outside. It's always boggled my mind. Really? You've got $60k worth of cars outside in the snow, and $200 worth of crap piled up in the garage? I just have a feeling, that's not the case here. The yard, house, and garage are all in immaculate condition. The house is old, and the garage is a much newer detached job, with a huge concrete driveway in front of it. In my town, the biggest garage you can build is 864 sq-ft, and I bet this garage is exactly that. It has enthusiast's dream garage written all over it. My gut feeling, based on precisely zero information, is it's an old guy who just can't drive anymore. Every time I drive by, I look for some sort of for sale sign, or even just to see if one of the garage door is open.

My expensive cars stay in the garage.

The other two (a $5K truck and a $3K Audi) are outside unless being worked on.

I do need a bigger garage though.

Right on. Hopefully you'll catchha glipse soon. My parents aren't car people at all and yet have a 900 sq ft garage.

Oh. Same age as me. I'm enjoying getting older. The older you get the funner it is to make fun of kids doing stupid things.

Hopefully!

True, lots of non-car people have big garages. I've just got that feeling! :)

I've got two vehicles in the garage, two out, plus two trailers (camper and utility out). None of the vehicles are expensive, but my truck and my '11 Malibu that are outside, are actually worth more than the '06 Mazda 3 and '74 Buick Apollo that are in the garage. I really need a bigger garage too. Of course, the only way to get the money for a bigger garage anytime soon, would be to sell the Buick, which would negate the need for a bigger garage. Oh well.

The Mini is going to have to start staying outside, since the Z4 Roadster is on one side of the garage (because I don't want to deal with the idiot top after the weather), and the S4 is going to be taking the Mini's spot due to idiocy (Currently has a misfiring bank of cylinders, eventually will need new front half shafts, needs suspension raised, but I did get R-comps for it...for next year).
