Hello fellow Jalops!
I picked up a Lexus ES300 with an ultra-rare factory five speed earlier this year for $600. It looked like it needed new headgaskets, but a new water pump, timing belt, and radiator cured its overheating woes. The car then got a new front axle, new front suspension bushings, and new rear brake rotors and pads (new fronts are sitting in the trunk).
It got towed to Lake Service Station in Hopewell Junction, NY (near Poughkeepsie) and will sit there until about 15:00 afternoon, when it goes to the junkyard at Double Z Motors in Fishkill for $300.
That is, unless you want to come get the car before then! $300 is the offer. I will say that the car isn't perfect (ha), having suffered some kind of electrical fire at some point near where the washer fluid bottle used to be. That and a wonky aftermarket alarm means the car drains its battery overnight and has a tendency to run the alarm through the night. Ask my neighbors how I know! Popping the negative terminal off the battery cures that, but you're still buying basically a 185hp V6 Camry with some leather and a hilarious badge even at the end of everything. A new motor can be about $500, at least as far as I can see.
Here's a picture of the car in beautiful condition to entice you. It started last time I tried, chugging and tapping vigorously.

Damn if you were out west I would take it. Swap a junkyard motor into it and take out that alarm.

Man oh man. I'll just happen to be passing through the Poughkeepsie area in a couple days. But alas...
I don't have $300 to spare.
I don't have any way to get it home.
I already have one engineless car hogging up my garage.

No space to hold onto it while you part it out? You should be able to end ahead that way.

I thought you and I had a brief interaction recently in which a opined that Orlove was behind Raphmoe. I can't find it now though.
