All the Instagram filters in the world can't hide that tired interior and mis-aligned front bumper. Oh, and Auto.

$10k? CP. You can find 325xi's for around $5-7k with 20k less miles.

I know but look at that interior! and it's cleeeeaaaannn.
Prices here can get high for pristine examples. I sold my 2002 325i 5spd for $9000 last year, but it was literally perfect.
(If it was $5000 it would be in my driveway this week)

Tell you what. My cousin had a 325xi sedan, auto, 2003, super clean inside and out, 100k miles, no issues, original owner. Almost a year ago he sold it for less than $10k.

You are right but for close to the same price as the 325xi you can probably manage to find a well maintained 540i wagon.

Granted. Although having spent decent amount of time with both, I much prefer the characteristics of the E46 (I know I'm in the minority, here)
