I recently picked up a copy of the "Road & Track's Guide To The New Subaru SVX", after searching for over a year and a half. I've always liked these guides, since they seem to contain more information and stories about the subject vehicle than you could find online, especially for the older guides. For some reason, I have guides for the 2005 Chrysler 300 and the 2007 Suzuki XL7, but the SVX guide is the most comprehensive one I've found yet. (Apologies for the sideways pictures, Kinja sucks. Enlarging them should fix the issue)

This is just two of the 97 pages in this guide. They have everything well detailed, including the designing of the car, the engineering of the major systems, the prototypes and testing phases of the project, and even the manufacturing processes.

Once I find the time to finish reading this from cover to cover, I'll try to share some interesting snippets such as the one above.

This one also includes original artwork! What I would do for a full sized print of this...

And here's the back cover. These type of guides capture something that pure internet research cannot.

I can't be the only one here who remembers these, right?

I didn't have any of these guides but I remember them, however I had many of their "Exotic Cars" special editions that came out quarterly or semi annually. They had more in depth reviews or comparisons than the normal magazine reviews, usually with expert commentary from Phill Hill or Paul Frere.

I've had them sent to me when I buy MR2 parts from some suppliers, it's a real nice touch. They must figure no one but car nerds want them :P

I forgot about the "Exotic Cars" special editions. I'm not sure how I ended up with the 300 or XL7 guides. Each arrived in the mail during their respective years. I didn't have a subscription to R&T at the time.

The older guides seem to be better written. They seem to have a lot more detail than the newer ones.
