There are a few cars that I like that are made now, in concept. I know they are cars I would enjoy to drive but they look to me hideously ugly. Here is what i'm talking about
Blobby, looks like an egg on wheels:
Just too over the top
Compare that to the old car which IMO looks great:
I just hate car design now maybe? Or hatches? But on the other hand I like the GTI, I like the Mustang GT but hate the Camaro's looks, etc. I just hate these excessively stretched diamond or whatever shaped headlights and blob bulky looks combined with a high belt line that the Fiesta in particular suffers from.
The Camaro belt line looks ridiculously high to me to where the windows hardly exist at all so I have particular hatred towards that car despite liking the options and features of that car quite a lot. Especially the 1LE package. If I didn't hate how it looked so much I would be driving.
I know claiming that the Fiesta ST is ugly might get me a lot of hate here but keep in mind that this is my opinion that I don't hold alone and many people agree with me as well as you. I would be much happier if the car looked like this:
Unfortunately with how cars seemingly need to be designed now you can't make a car with a more stretched out look like that in this size anymore.
Does anyone else have a design or thing in modern designs that they particularly dislike? Especially if it prevents you from liking that car.

I actually don't mind the styling of the FiST, but I wouldn't buy one.

No. It looks like a cat fish.

Yes ridiculous grills is another thing i dislike about a lot of cars now. Unfortunately they are so common that they are impossible to avoid.

In before Brian Silvestro rage.
I agree with the Mazda though. The new (2010?) model doesn't do it for me like the previous model.

The best example of this, for me, is the Porsche Panamera. Superbly luxurious, insanely fast, drives like a 911, can be had as a diesel, but it may be the ugliest car on sale right now, and for that reason, I'd get an A7/S7/RS7/Quattroporte instead.
Also on this list: The Lexus IS, the Mini Countryman, the Ferrari LaFerrari, and the Nissan Juke.

I like it, but the design is far, far too busy.

I'm just playing around, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I love the idea of the Ford Flex.
I'd like to think it gives me the nostalgic feel of the wagons of old.
But alas - I can't help but view the Flex as the high-end 4-slice toaster to Scion's 2-slice capacity.

The front of it looks like half of Lord Vader's helmet. Awful.

meh. ItAs a FiST owner, I didn't buy it for the looks. It looks "good" but not spectacular in any way. But the feel behind the wheel? I about had multiple orgasms when driving through the beartooth pass.........just thinking about it n makes me hard.

Ya, that thing takes the ridiculous lights shit I hate to an impressive extreme.

Grills today are definitely a contender for the worst ever.

I agree. They full on bought into the "this is a future-car" concept.

The sad thing about the old model of the Mazda is that not only did it look better but IMO it was one of the better designs i've seen. Probably on "of all time" levels.

I've owned two Jeeps. This makes me ill.

I disagree on the Speed3. The aggressive happy derp face on the outgoing model suits its maniacal tendencies more.

It looks like one of those people who had a botched facelift, like the doctors stretched it too far back.

I just see an insane Mazda3. The old one looks boring.

Warning: These are all my opinions and mea nothing to anybody else. Not trying to offend.
Theres more Im sure, but this is what comes to mind.

GTR and Evo X both have better looking predecessors IMO.

I saw one parked recently initially from the rear. I thought "thats a gorgeous lexus", then I saw the front

I'm sorry, but the hatch on this thing just looks weird:

I think this era of automotive excess with things like headlights and grills is going to have a reactionary era of more sensible looks soon after. I could hope at least.

They do, but they're also rather attractive in their own right. They went from "brutish-but-elegant" to flat-out "brutish". Not that I have a problem with either.
