Not car related so here is bait, a scene from the movie: Black Air.

Kinja'd!!!

My life has pretty much sucked and it's sucked for a while. My engagement ended, I had to move in a hurry into some hood apartment building, I was eating Mcdonalds every meal, and losing my fucking mind, going broke and falling far behind in university.

But this week and weekend things are finally looking up. I handed in an econometrics assignment where I actually understood some of it on friday, then I went and washed my car. My car actually has stayed clean for a few days. I even shampooed the drivers side carpets.

Saturday I went with my ex fiancee to a mutual friends wedding. Although it's never fun to hang out with exes, I bit my tongue and took one for the team. When the bride tells you two days before "We have no solution for getting the photographer (my ex) to the venue, there are no rental cars, (long weekend in Canada) can you please please drive her?"....well, you don't have much choice do you?

I took the high road, and said "sure, no problem". Their wedding isn't supposed to be about MY feelings...it's supposed to be about theirs. The ceremony was awesome, the reception even better. God truly did approve of this marriage, as it wasn't even cold or rainy...and this is Canada in October.

And when everyone else was doin photo stuff, I chilled in my car and studied Micro economics! I forgot their wedding gift (because idiot) but I'm gonna get to them in the near future. What a great day it was. I did field a few questions about my relationship with my ex, but it is what it is, when you're engaged it's everyone's business I guess and everyone was nice about it.

I woke up yesterday, made my way down to Sears and got a $700 pot set 80% off for $160. Finally, tonight, for the first time in a month, I am going to cook and make my own dinner. Lastly, I got my internet installed just today.

I still have some problems, like being broke, wondering how I am going to afford winter tires, the fucking endless amount of wasps in my apartment, and of course tying my odds and ends off with my ex (she still has a few bits and bobs of mine).

I may yet flunk out of school. But I will keep trying. A sure way to fail would be to give up. I am going to the end of semester come hell or high water.

So Oppo,...remember, you probably have a lot more to be thankful for than you realize. I know I sure do. Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for all the trees, but my forest is pretty sweet. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

P.S. I want to thank you guys for encouraging me when things were the hardest. You guys deliver.

If you've got any peppers, toss those in the mix. Chicken sauteed in a little bit o butter served on rice goes really well with peas and diced carrots.

If you get yourself a george foreman tabletop grill, go for grilled bits of chicken with grilled mixed peppers served over sticky rice. You could also pick up sliced grilled chicken to throw in the microwave. Not always perfect, but tastes great.

congrats man. I love your outlook. Seriously, it's extremely encouraging to read about your situation improving. I like that line about forests. I might have to use that one day!

What's for dinner tonight?

Thanks I do have some home grown jalapenos I'll throw in. I don't own a microwave yet, to be honest it's low down on the list of things I need for my place.

Yeah, at supermarkets they have bags of grilled chicken, you can even re-heat in the oven (always turns out better anyway). It's a nice quick thing, and while buying the fresh cuts of meat is nice, there's always so much fat (I hate the fat, and cut it off, even if I'm at a "nice" restaurant).

Nothing too fancy. Chicken in bbq sauce with Jalapenos, rice and salad with ranch dressing. SO happy to not have it mcdonalds again! Thanks for the encouraging words.

You will be broke during school, and maybe even for a little bit after. Been there before and it sucks, but things will work out in time. Put every bit of effort you have into school, it will pay off eventually. Also, props for taking the high road. A lot of guys would say that you shouldn't have driven the ex, but you were the better man and saw that it wasn't about you. When you start doing the right things in life for others and yourself, then good things will come your way.

Get frozen vegetables. They're the same price or cheaper, often pre-cut, not presered in salt, and keep for a long time. Chopped peppers + onions are like 75 cents per bag and you can easily get 3-4 meals with them. Combine with some eggs and a cheap load of bread for simple yet hearty breakfasts or lunches if you pre-make the stuff and just toast the bread when needed.

Glad to see things looking up, man. Breakups are rough, school is tough, but you're tougher. I know how hard life can be at times, but keep your head up, and keep moving forward. If you're still standing up, you haven't hit rock bottom, as long as there's ground under your feet. Believe me, I've been through the ringer in life, myself, and I've wanted to give up, but I never did, and I've got so much to be thankful for, as do you. Giving up is the easiest thing you can do, but it's also the worst. The easy way is not always the best way. Just keep on keepin' on, brother, and you'll look back, and you'll wonder in the future, how this could have been so difficult. Life gets easier, that's all you need to remember, it gets easier, and you get stronger.

Think of it like a bench press. You used to be able to bench press 400 lbs, but you tore your rotator cuff, and had to take some time off, just before the big bodybuilder meet, you're crushed. But you go through therapy, it takes so long, and it's so depressing, but you get up a week later, and it doesn't hurt as bad. Then a month, and it's even better, and six months, there's almost no pain. You're back to that bench press, and you've lost some strength, you can only do 275 now, but you've worked back up, and finally, you're up to 350lbs. You're not where you were when it fell apart, but you're closer, you can feel it, and you look back, and you think, "wow, I've come this far, and I'm almost there." And you are. You're almost back to where you were, even if it seems far away, it's not as far as it was when you first started. Remember that, boss.

Thanks. In regards to the ex you're right, a lot of guys said they wouldn't have driven her, but I am glad you approve. Do right by others and they will do right by you. It doesn't mean being a doormat, but it does mean that sometimes, you gotta suck it up and eel with it!

Exactly. Although I've honestly found that a lot of people won't actually take notice when you do the right thing, but the people who truly matter will notice and appreciate those gestures. Those are the people you want to hang onto in life.

Thank you very much for the kind words and encouragement. I know all about physical rehab, earlier this year before all this happened, I had knee surgery. That was hard too, but I got through!

You're welcome. See, you can make it through. I've had Crohn's disease my whole life pretty much. (diagnosed at 5, I'm 25, approaching 26 now) and I've had some hard times. I worked out a lot, got to be in really good shape, then hit some hard times, then I had a daughter, and didn't have much time to work out, and my health was bad, no insurance, too busy, my daughter always comes first, but now I'm in a better place, and I'm in much better shape than I was, and I'm happier. It took years, but we recently bought the house I mostly grew up in, things are better, I'm healthier, and it was worth all the time it took to get through the bad. It will be worth it to you as well. Just remember what's important in life. To me, it's to be healthy and happy for my significant other and our daughter, and ensure that I stick around. Be happy for those that love you. Always accept encouragement and support, and never push those people close to you away. If they push you away, there are better people out there anyways.

You seem like a good guy, and I think you'll be okay.
