It really is, I was pretty damn happy when I was in LA 5 years ago and was still seeing these.

My short bus.
According to those in the know over at www.skoolie.net , Crowns are the best buses made. (and going extinct.)

Thats a Crown and will all be gone after this year. They no longer pass emission standards. They are getting taken off the road + replaced (some paid for by grants.) The skoolie world love these things-most stout bus out there. People are trying buy them up before they get scrapped.

Now I use the 59 and the L to get to work, instead of this maniacal bitch I started-out using and the 7,4/5/6. It rarely runs and the bus driver's who run it are fucking nuts.
I still prefer their driving to a 59 operator who uses two feet to drive in 5-borough traffic...

The '73 I bought for no good reason at all. It was a 4 speed with a 3208. When I pushed the button on the floor while driving through downtown Seattle, i discovered it was the air horn, which stuck on for about a 1/2 mile. Flipped it on eBay for 2x what I paid for it, little old lady school bus driver showed up in a cab and drove it to LA. Weird.

I'm on the skoolie forum as well. And if I could have changed the weather this past winter, I'd have a Crown myself right now, but alas, I ended up with an extinct Wayne Lifeguard that needs a lot of work. I finished gutting it a couple months ago and have been buying parts & pieces to get it running safely & reliably.
If I ever get my ass off the racetrack and get back to working on the damn bus.... its gonna be real nice to live in the front half with the car in the back.

Gizmo! I feel like you haven't been around for a while! What gives? You need to make a post about your bus!

I've always love the good old flat front rear engined buses. We never had these at my school we had the traditional truck chassis buses.
Food for thought.
And since we are posting about buses:

first one is RHD and on British plates. Age is difficult to gather as it’s a Q plate.
