I was a witness to a car accident outside of my workplace yesterday. The Q7 pulled out in busy traffic trying to make that left turn,then the Hyundai hit her when she peeked past a row of cars into her lane.
Q7 was at fault as I told the officer... This is exactly why I take the back exit that leads to the light.

Same thing happens in front of my work all the time. Very busy street in the mornings, and peoples try to sneak left turns. Like you said, the best approach is take the side streets.
