I know flying cars seem like a nice concept, but I still haven't seen a single concept that I think could be successful. This is a niche product for people with excess money and that's about it. Especially this product. Sub-par driving experience because it's not meant to be a daily driver. It would have terrible weight distribution and would under-steer like a boss
Now I don't fly my own plane but this looks really heavy and unstable. The Cessna takes off so much quicker and this just looks like its about to nose dive every time he adjusts the stick. Also, did you notice that there is no video of the plane in flight except right at take-off and landing?
What are your thoughts?

You know how some people see your turn signal and then speed up just so you don't get in front of them? Well, imagine that same mindset when you are trying to come in for a landing. It won't end well for anyone involved.

I've never seen the point of "the flying car". I can see them being a thing for people who can afford them as toys. In the same way people can buy a boat-car. But as a means of mass transit. Never. They'll (probably) always just be small-private airplanes with the special added feature of being able to drive on the road.
With everything you have to go through to get a pilots license and then there's the issue of infrastructure, which is the largest issue (beyond texting and flying) it's just not going to happen. At least beyond wealthy people driving their car-planes to a municipal or private airport, for a weekend in Aspen. Which wouldn't even be a commuter thing for them either.
I can see some sort of automated hover-transport being a thing someday. But that's in the distant future. Especially since automated cars are just becoming a thing.

People have only been inventing this nonsense for like 70 years. It's garbage.
Think you'll be able to take off or land anywhere but an airport/airstrip? Wrong.
Think there'll be a dearth of catastrophic failures and pilot errors, resulting in fatal crashes? Wrong.
Think anyone would rather buy this instead of just driving their Fusion to their Cessna and going about their merry way?
The difference between this and the Segway is: the Segway sold a few vehicles and nothing tragic ever happened. Useless, but harmless.
And it gave us this.

That won't matter because landing priority is dictated by ATC.

Screw that I'm landing on the freeway whenever I want to! (you see the real problem with flying cars now?)

I don't think I follow. You can't land or take off from a highway. You get in big trouble from the FAA for that.

You are thinking like a law abiding pilot, I am thinking like you average asshole driver.

Reducto ad absurdum: you do that once, ATC sees you doing it (big brother, always watching), you get reported to the FAA, the FAA takes your pilot's license away, you can't file a flight plan, you fly without a flight plan or pilot's license, ATC gets nervous, F-16s get scrambled, you get shot down for being a terrorist, everyone wins.

Join me in my fantasy, It's nice here, we have cookies, wenches and rum! /nary an authority in sight.
(Besides, the only way a flying car would ever work on mass scale is if they were automated, like they are trying to do with regular cars now.)

ooh, wenches and rum...
I have said the same thing about automation.
