You know what Oppo needs? Oppo needs Metal. Fortunately thanks to Gamecat we're going to deliver, as we look at covers of Gary Numan's "Metal." Not to be confused with Tenacious D's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! though you should totally take a second and watch that music video.

Kinja'd!!!

We officially have a new record for biggest blowout, and it's going to be a tough one to top. 2Cellos dominated the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! round with an embarrassing 82% of the votes, taking 14 of the 17 ballots cast. Two of the three votes they didn't receive were sympathy votes, making their victory even more dominant. That said, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! cover does get an honorary second place as three different people chastised me for missing it when making the list. It was, at least, a close fight in the battle for worst. Eurodisco artist Blizzard Brothers held of a late charge by Hellsong (a band that doesn't sound at all how you'd expect them to based on their name), taking the victory by a lone vote, with Hinder another two votes back. At least there was a fight taking place somewhere in the last round.

For those unfamiliar with Gary Numan all I can say is shame on you! He was a pioneer of the electronic music scene, and, based on his song !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! probably a bit of a Jalop. He was also a bit of a sci-fi geek, as evidenced by "Metal." The song is about an android who wishes to be human, but never can be, and is based on the literary works of sci-fi authors Phillip K. Dick and William S. Burroughs. In other words Gary Numan essentially sang about Star Trek's Data nearly a decade before Data.

This may well have been the toughest cover search to date. Searching for "metal cover" isn't exactly the most productive endeavor in the world. Also, just a reminder, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is still going on.

But the Afrika Bambaataa cover is awesome and features Gary Numan! But yes. This was mostly an exercise in why Trent should cover more songs.

I know! Right? And it's a really great, catchy cover. The first time I heard it (being a Numan fan) I got chills.
