!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
There is both good and bad here: Good because no penetrating injuries were mentioned at all.And bad because diffuse axonal injuries can range from mild concussion to never-wake-up :-(.They didn't mention where on that scale the doctors think he is -or if the doctors do indeed know.
