So I was just watching the Hooniverse review of the CLA45 AMG and the bit about it being almost a $60k car got me thinking...

What's the most expensive (overpriced?) 4 cylinder car out there? Is it worth the money?

I can't think of too many 4 cylinder premium cars, outside of the standard 4 pot Audis, BMW 328i, etc...fully spec-ed out anything else that would tip $60k? Where would you draw the line for a 4 cylinder car?

I'm sure the Cayman/Boxster twins are going to be the most expensive 4 cyls out there when the turbo's released.

oh damn yeah I forgot about that thing. It makes me cringe a little....plus the styling is just trying too hard for my tastes too.

The most expensive is at least $110k, apparently.

Has Porsche had a 4 cylinder engine in recent history? I can't think of anything off the top of my head since the 944 and 968.

The torque and fuel economy of the current crop of turbo 4s sounds amazing, but I'm going to miss the good old N/A straight and flat 6s

Nope. Only Flat 6's, and V6/8's for the Panamera/Cayenne

are we talking new or used? A ford R2000 would be waaayy up there. But I guess that's the price of a 500hp golf cart.

Do Ariel Atoms count? They seem to start at $56,000 and go from there.

I was thinking more from a new perspective - even more so from a non-sports car perspective...as in how high up the chain can a manufacturer get away with a 4 cylinder engine on an everyday car?

I'd love to see the engine bay on that thing! It could probably fit an extra lounge chair in there?!
