According to the seller, it needs a new engine from being over-revved. Otherwise, in mint condition. It even has the integrated boosters! With a good engine, it could fetch ~$12-14k.
While my least favorite color combo, I think it's worth the $4,900.
What do y'all think?

Is it possible to find a S60R/V70R engine that hasn't been horribly abused?

A fair amount of old people owned these things, solely buying it because it was the 'top of the line' S60. Of course, they're old and may have crashed it. These are super easy to total due to the parts cost (it's over $1,200 per headlamp), so I don't think it would be all that hard...

Thing will have been thrashed, not only new engine but probably clutch/flywheel maybe gearbox. Also how do you over rev a modern engine, I'm guessing hitting the wrong gear?

I'm with you, although I'd like to know why the engine is shot. If it's a defect that's one thing, if it's because of low/no oil or other abuse, that's another.

Should have hit the link - engine was over-revved - how does this happen with a limiter on the car?

sometimes i wish I bought one of these and then I remind myself about the repair costs and am happy with the WRX again

Probably, unless he did some fancy electronics wizardy to eliminate the limiter.

Almost bought a WRX when I got my S60R. I spend ~$4,000 a year on repairs. That's not including the suspension overhaul I so desperately need.

You should buy it and get a new engine and swap it in; how hard could it be?

That was my question - looked around on Volvo forums for a bit and the only thing I saw was complaints how the same limiter varied - one time 6700, then 6800, someone else had put a limiter that went to 7000 on theirs thinking that was what it was supposed to be. I'm astonished that it's possible to do this unless the limiter fails or is screwed with.
