Holy. Shit. Dearly I hope he gets better. Never like to see something like this happen. Forza Jules.

No matter how many times I watch that, I simply cannot fathom the amount of force behind that hit. The back of the fucking tractor lifted clear off the ground. Hopefully Bianchi makes a full recovery.
I still can't believe that the tractor was out while cars were going. If one car went off the track at that spot, why couldn't/wouldn't another? It just seems stupid that the tractor would be allowed out there with the race still going on.

I had a chat about this w/ our director of track safety today. He said the exact same thing. The first car was already disabled. A better move would have been to get the driver out and then use a chain/strap to pull it to safety instead of driving the crane into the run-off. The guy standing in the path of oncoming race traffic and the one standing behind the briefly flying crane are lucky they didn't get killed.

It ripped the whole crash hoop off, basically stripped off everything aft of the driver. I know that hindsight is 20/20, but I hope this leads to some serious rethinking about car removal during a race.

No kidding. What a massive and totally avoidable fuck up.
