From Yahoo!: Kind of a sad story, this guy spent the better part of 50 years amassing a car collection of at least one make per letter in the alphabet. Some really cool cars here. Seems that his kids weren't as keen on the fact that their heritage would be in the form of old cars, so daddy dearest is auctioning off the cars (or rather, allowing RM auctions to do so), so that his kiddo's can have cash money when he dies.

Absolutely. The purpose of being a parent isn't give your kids everything. It's to teach them how to get their own things, and make them capable of doing so. Not giving them a free ticket to easy street when you die.
If I did sell my car collection, I'd take the cash and blow it all on hats.
