A better question, is should you..
![]() 10/02/2014 at 23:45 |

That kind of makes me want to do this just to mess with you
![]() 10/02/2014 at 23:50 |

know you're totally messing with me, but I know you'd definitely do this if given the car and monies..

is what I saw

I'd rather see those pauvre, pauvre 928s rot in a scrap yard.

I approve of this.

But that top one could be saved..

True! And as a bonus you get a free tape measure to hold that mess together.

I've always had a soft spot for louvers, but admittedly, not so many cars really look good with them.

Love me some tape measures to measure car things. :P

I can't see them working on a Porsche, it just doesn't seem right, but I'd like to see a properly good attempt one day.

Multi-wing: NEIN!
Period-appropriate lulzy 80s "tuner" bodykit: I lol'd pretty hard. That panel gap counts as a louver, right?
![]() 10/03/2014 at 00:50 |

Such gap. Are any of these better?
![]() 10/03/2014 at 01:01 |

Spoiler Alert!

Wait.... Is that a Tri-Plane?

'sokay.
The second unfinished one just looks kind of sad with the sunk-in headlights: "Why did you do this to my butt? Why!?"
![]() 10/03/2014 at 01:12 |

Agreed, it's too "looking like an F-body Camaro" to me. What about this:
![]() 10/03/2014 at 01:30 |

I kind of get what they're doing with the widebody car's front, but the rear looks more hellabutt than functional:
Usually the widebody 944 racecars keep the box flare and mmmhmm. That's nice.
Ack! That hatchback replacement is terrible. Always has been, always will be.
I don't get the exhaust gills. Double-exhaust looks tacked-on and tacky.

It would only work on a high-HP mid-engine Porsche
Like a new model that had a big 6L N/A Flat 12!

Such a BOSS.

Porschini will happenings..

With a flat 12? YES!!

Porschini Aventarrera!

Having finally found a fellow louver-lover, I must ask: What would you think of a first-gen MR2 with louvres?
![]() 10/03/2014 at 09:13 |
|
Well, I think they can get a pass and go ahead with louvers.
They're certainly boxy enough, but something I would keep in mind is that you would want to (in my opinion) have the rear window surrounding trim be matte black trim, not body colored, and have the louvers also be matte black, not body color. I think it could work, and it would make me experiment with how the car looked without the rear spoiler.
The biggest mistake in my eyes with louvers is when people paint them to match the body. Terrible terrible idea.
I think that the pinnacle of louvered vehicles simply comes down to the 80's Camaro IROC-Z. It made louvers so cool to, despite having seen them on tons of custom and classic muscle cars before. It just never felt so important to the look of the car before.

surprisingly badass!

I completely agree.
The worst thing you can do with louvers is paint them the same color as the body.
However, I think the peak of kick-ass louvers comes in the form of the Mitsubishi Starion.
Partially because of the optional side-louvers.
