Hate to be a gravedigger but I just found out about this. There goes $199 or more of my future dollars...
Anyway, it seems like the elitists euro Lego Technic forum members are sneering at it saying the quality is not as good as the prototype/previous set and some are going to buy it only as a parts provider than actually building the set. They can't see if from a regular consumer/car enthusiast point of view that this is basically gold in our eyes who can't afford the funds nor time to build 100% detailed and accurate one-off Lego projects.
I'm also jelly you have the Sauber F1 car, that's like the crown jewel of Lego vehicles.

I can understand both sides of the argument. I mean, LEGO is almost all about design so when that facet is seen to be stymied, it isn't welcome. On the other hand, the people who dislike the changes can just use their own pieces and apply whatever corrections they want.
Ha, the crown jewels for me have always been the Super Car and the old Model Team sets.
