Inspired by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from yesterday, I thought it'd be interesting to compare how the Fiesta is marketed between the UK and the US. The car occupies very different positions in each market: in the UK, it's regularly at the very top the sales charts, and has been a familiar sight on the roads since the seventies; in the US, it's part of a relatively small segment of the market and, with the exception of a few Mk1s imported to help Ford US meet emissions standards, only went on sale, for the very first time, in 2009.

So, here's a 2010 television advert, made for the UK:
And here's a US-market ad, released in 2011:

Is it bad that I prefer the European ad over the American one?

I have no idea! I prefer it, too, but then I'm part of the target market.
I think it speaks to the differences in how the car's perceived from place to place: in the UK, it's the most ordinary, conventional car in the world. You could see literally any variety of person behind the wheel, from your best mate to your grandma, and be completely unsurprised. In the US, on the other hand...

That's exactly what it is. Over here, people are impressed about the fact that it has a push-start ignition, and trendiness.
Also, Look at the ads for the Nissan Micra for example. they just started selling it over here in Canada for $9,998 on the sticker.
Then again, these cars are all over Europe.

Oh, yeah, that is weird. The Micra's one of the go-to old people cars over here.

I see Fiesta's of all varieties on a daily basis as here in the U.K. they are an established product with many years under their belt whereas the U.S. is targeting the young leaving schoolers because it's fresh, new, small and cheap to own and run with the option of more excitement with the ST.
Just found this ad for the Fiesta Mk1 from 1978 for the U.S.
and the U.K. from 1976
