Quick question for you. What does it actually mean to have followers on here/
have an unrelated gif for your troubles.

No idea. It's probably the modern equivalent of a heartclick.

If you follow people, it means that any posts that you make on your own blogs and not Oppo/etc. will have those people approved to reply. It also means that in your private blog view, it displays the posts of those people you follow, much like a heartclick would.

That's a good question. I'm not sure what it does either. Does it mean that if you follow me, that the posts I comment on show up in your sidebar? Posts I write show up?
I almost don't want to know, because the last time I completely figured this shit out, we went Kinja. Sometimes, I think the less I know, the better.

It's not an issue here since almost everyone is an author, but it would get non-authors out of the grey when they post on the follower's stuff.
Plus I think it makes people happy to give them a free notification
:D

Watching this, I was imagining the machine saying, "You want some goddamn squares? Oh, I'll makes some fuckin' squares! Here's some goddamn squares, ya fuck!"

On here? Not much, because if you're an author, your posts will always show up. Unless of course, someone dismisses you.

The posts of people I follow show up in my private view. So if I follow you because your post are awesome, I'll see them in my feed.

Aside from the personal blog stuff, I use it to tell the poster that I like their stuff. More of a compliment than a star click.
