Car Story Involving a Mustang II

A parent I know used to live in Detroit probably in the 70s. His sister owned a Mustang II. Sometime during ownership of this 'Stang, someone slashed the tires, presumably because they/he/she thought it was a import car. They were most likely angry Detroit auto workers.

Was it a 4cyl. Mustang II? I could see slashing tires at that sacrilege.
