My first answer was a side exhaust, but it appears to be facing the wrong direction. Then I thought an air intake but it's front engined! Could it be a brake cooling duct? Were they doing that back then?

Haha. I just guessed. Big V8 muscle cars aren't typically great in the snow. Unfortunately, I have to have a car that is slightly more practical and better in the snow otherwise I'd buy American muscle in a heartbeat!
