I hate you so much little folding-cup-holder-garage-door thing..
I finally got you open and now you won't move. I really wish Mercedes hadn't put their folding cup holders under these little retractable doors. If the closing latch doesn't grab, it snags the door and then it can't open..
Aren't the little things irritating sometimes?

the one in my family's X5 works like a dream but the door handle is always fucked up, so it could be worse

I like playing with it in my dad's C-class, which by the looks of it has the same interior color as your C-class!

Yeah, it shouldn't bug me, but for some reason I always end of glaring at it.
Good thing it's not my dd.

Could be worse...
On the E36, the cup holders are there for irony.

I can fit a small or medium in the Lancer's shallow holders. Anything more and—nope. Not gonna happen.

The wood on my W210's cupholder was jammed open when I bought the car. I had to fix that and I still can't figure why the lower cup holder was made to hold nothing larger than a redbull

I feel your pain.
Anything that fits in my cup holders, gets bumped into when I shift.

I don't even have cup-holders. gotta hold my coffee between my legs.

Or, you can drive an early-90's Audi, which rather than having a cupholder, has a carpeted 5"x2" slot for holding almost anything except a cup. Why it's there, I have no idea. Literally all it does for me is collect change and hold my phone, only when tilted sideways.

Look at the one in my BMW. See those little feet at the front? I didn't put a styrofoam cup in perfectly enough and didn't know it pierced the cup. Soda went into the hinge mechanism, the cubby, everywhere before I realized. It will never be the same.

Damn, they could have at least put a small rod or something across the bottom.
But two metal prongs? I'll give German manufacturers points for being able to elaborately hide cup holders, but it sure as hell doesn't seem like they test out the real world application.

Problem solved! Hahahahahahahaaaaa.

W210's have that bizarre claw mechanism, right? I sat in one once, yeah that secondary holder is oddly useless. On my C320 (when it's willing to open) the secondary holder is barely usable.

My S-Class had this bullshit coming out of the center armrest.. not even good at holding the average poland spring.. doesn't open completely.. doesn't close flush.. the one in my E92 are decent but I'd only trust those with closed bottles.

You should contact a garage door installer to make a tiny little garage door for it with a tiny little garage door opener.
DO IT!
