A Nissan Stanza wagon, to be specific. I know vehicles tend not to rust here, but these things have all but disappeared even here.

Saw one in Florida over the summer. Every body panel was rust ridden except the roof haha.

I love the Venture Brothers.
"How many Yaz albums you got on this thing anyway?"

Unless I'm mistaken, the wagon part was just an aftermarket canopy which took the place of the original hatch

I do think you may be mistaken on that one. But I may be mistaken as well. I've seen too many of them with that wagonesque hatch with all the factory badging so I dunno. Here is a picture from Nissans collection showing the badges on it which make it look like it was made that way from the factory.

I think you got kinja'd there, but I looked up some examples and it appears that the canopy is known as a 'sportbak'. I think it must have been a post-production option, since it only came in gray and is interchangeable with the normal hatch.
IMO not having a unique serial number, or constituting a different model (the NX badging is on the hatch) would revoke unicorn status. Sort of like how a miata with a hard top is still a miata.
I often see an NX Sportbak parked only a few blocks from me. Maybe I'll go stalk the owner until I can ask him myself!
