So hockey game last night, our team lost, and I took a slapshot to the ankle, right in between my skate and shinguard. Still hurts like the dickens, I think I might have broken something.
On the bright side, I bought a new mountain bike! 2010 Giant Faith. Needs a bit of work, and the frame is bare so I want to strip it down and get it powdercoated, but I'm pumped to hit the mountains.

The last and only hockey game I'v gone too so far was a ECHL game, I was sitting in the 4th row and a puck got hit over the net/barrier, hit me in the forehead, bounced off, bruised the guys arm next to me, and kept going..That resulted in my 2nd of 3 concussions thus far in life.

Oof, that is the worst. Another reason why I am a goalie.
Still, seems like with my old chest protector someone would always manage to find the spot around my shoulder with next to no padding.

I love all the open spots on hockey equipment. That one's really the worst, though, because a shot will find that area at some point in your life.
Defenseman? This is usually a defenseman's malady.

Toughen up, we don't want to hear about it. If you can walk you can skate.
I play defense, been there, done that. And hopefully nothing is broken.
There is actually a surprising amount of meat before you get to bone right there. I know because once I had a chunk of it torn up at work and it was a pretty deep gouge. I don't know how many stitches, but it took over an hour for the doc to sew it up and there were a bunch of internal stitches. Plus 15 on the outside.

Oh yeah, ice and ibuprofen are your friend. And elevate it as much as you can.

Ironically I can skate on it better than I can walk, it just feels like I have no lateral strength right now. I'll probably just tape it up for my next game, not worth missing a game considering how much ice time costs.

Yep, defenseman. Although I have to say that getting hit between the shin guards and pants hurts more.

I still think you goalies are crazier; at least I have the option of getting out of the way.
Although my goalie experience has been exclusively in street hockey with far less-than-sufficient padding (helmet, blocker, trapper, pads, and a cup). No one ever wanted to play in net, so we just forced my little brother to do it (ironically he ended up getting really good and now plays goalie).

Ahh, I never got to experience that. I think that's part luck and part the pads I wore. I always bought pants a bit longer and tighter to prevent that. I want to say Cooper, but there was a brand that was better about covering that spot.

I've had that before. Tweaked my knee in high school. I could skate fine but barely walk, so didn't go doctors for like a month. It was just a minor sprain and got better with a little rest, but was very strange.

God I hate that. Might have chipped something...?
