For the record, here are the acceptable uses of decals on your car:

1. Sponsored advertisement. Your local shop or supplier gives you a healthy discount on parts/labor, in return for which you put their logo on your car.

2. Car Club, either an old school club, like the Porsche Club of America, interweb forums, like Bimmerforums, or, last but not least, car blogs like Oppo and Jalop.

3. Because racecar, and because #1 above.

4. Humor/irony decals, like this one:
