Sure beats parking a fully loaded 2014 Hyundai Genesis in the garage for similar coin.

With a fully loaded genesis, you can't pretend there are no lines in your parking space. With a Porsche and a BMW, you can park like a complete asshat.

Don't like any Porsche so I'd probably take a nicely equipped Charger and E39 wagon, either 530 or 540.

This would do.

Probably a new Corvette Stingray. The best performance you're going to get (new) for $50,000.

Dream garage, eh?
1. Daily Driver: Lexus SC400
2. Offroad/Snow Daily: Lifted Geo Tracker
3. Cruiser: Lincoln Mark VI
4. Hauler/Work Vehicle: Ford Ranger
5. Nice Weather Daily: 1988 Fiero Fastback [with engine swap]
6. Motorcycle: Triumph Daytona 675R
7. Rest of Money: Expanding Garage.
(I've now learned a $50k limit is far too high for my current wants hahaha.)

Golf R + used Boxster.
Or GTi + newer used Boxster.
Or WRX hatch + really nice used Boxster
Or used truck + Elise.
I can think of many combinations, but ultimately they involve something that can haul stuff and a fun convertible

I'd rather save an E30 M3 from the track, fix it up myself, and with the spare change buy a 135iM daily driver. :D

My dream E39 M5 is for sale at our local BMW dealership (BMW Store, downtown Vancouver). It's way overpriced, but Blue Water/Silverstone on the 2nd Gens is something to behold.

Are the really 50k all in? Wow!
![]() 01/12/2014 at 23:56 |

Hmmm interesting.
30k for a 335i E90 is creeping up to used 4DR M3 territory. The E90 M3s have really dropped a lot compared to the E92s.
Can't argue with the ZHP 330i though, although 20k seems a tad high. 16k maybe?

If it comes in a T-top I'm game.

I really, really like your idea. Fun practical DD and a convertible that'll hold up as a sports car. I can't think of any great combos though. I've owned a GTI so I wouldn't want to go back to one, however practical and fun they may be. And small convertibles don't come cheap if you don't want to settle for an outdated Boxster and don't fit in an Elise.

You've got it going on man!

Actually, Chevy's website lists the 2014 Stingray as starting at $51,000 MSRP. So actually for $50,000, you couldn't buy a new Corvette.

Boxsters can be had for 10 grand or so, I've driven one at that price and it didn't feel dated. Elise's are expensive, but I fit fine.
Practical varies person to person, for many a sedan would be enough. I need a hatch, wagon, or truck. I plan on acting out my two car fantasy early next year, picking up a cheap Miata to play with as a companion to my Sonic.

Damn, that's a nice example in a really nice color. I'm always partial to color-matched hubcaps and the small bumpers of the pre-1974 models, though the ad doesn't mention anything about how it runs or how the carbs are set up.
Most good condition examples I see online are for $6k+ and carb setup is known to be a problem, so I'd save money for that.
If you have the money or know someone with the money for it, by all means, splurge for it. These probably can't get much cheaper.

I'd probably get a slightly nicer Montréal then.

The Series 1 XJ is my favorite of them all, but you should set aside money to replace the Lucas wiring.

Ugh, you're right.
But really, a Series 1 XJ with modern interior materials, electronics, safety, and handling is a dream come true in my mind.

16k will get you a good one, 20k will get you a really nice, low mileage one.

Haha thanks dude! I thought about throwing a Datsun 240z or an old Ford Model A in there as well, but I was already at 6 cars & didn't want to seem too insane lol. Great post topic btw, there are a bunch of super interesting choices here.

Oh one day, hopefully. Right now, I'm just a broke college student trying to keep my debt as low as possible. Although when some of my list can be had for around ~$1000 on Craigslist all day long, its pretty difficult not to dive right in.

Hydraulic lift, a complete set of pneumatic tools and a really good compressor system, plus everything that Snap-On sells that has anything to do with cars. That is my dream garage.
Ok maybe a decent wireless entertainment system too.
