I can't find the exact picture, but I remember when the ZR1 made it's debut, there was profile shot of it sitting pretty damn high.

The term "muscle car" didn't come about until the mid 70s. So in its early days the Olds 442 would have been called a "super car."

You're spot on! Most of my old issues of Car & Driver would call them that, even thoug they would use the term muscular to refer to large engines and good performance. Detroit's mid-sizes were Super Cars, while the the small-sizes were called Sporty Cars.
