I'm going to nominate my explanation of why infiniti's naming system explains its failures in the US in a thread about why the impala should stay around and keep the name impala just because millenials typically dislike the name impala because it invokes the W-body "large slab of meh"

To sum up my explanation - You start with entry level M, and then high end Q with a G entry level FWD and aan M convertible. But then G remains your base model but is now RWD and becomes your convertible. M then becomes the larger, middle sized sporty sedan while Q remains the top dog of luxury and size. Then you kill off the Q, and make the M bigger and more powerful while leaving G as coupe/convertible/sedan entry level. Then you kill M to bring back Q but Q is essentially the same role as M. I don't see any way that plan could fail to get people thinking and talking about infiniti's product line.
