Common plenums are fun like that. I've seen an Olds with I think a triple-carb setup of small four-barrels , and Pontiac did this from the factory:

My brain doesn't like that. I'd be happier with 1, 2, 4 or 8 carbs for 8 cylinders. Actually, since I don't like messing with carbs I prefer 1.
