Just cruising the Tail of the Dragon's relative to the NW last year. Nothing crazy just some good noises on a good road.
It's also before I got a good external mic for the GoPro 2. Man that internal mic is garbage.
Sometimes I just play it in a background tab when I can't get out for a drive.

Place external mic near the exhaust?
It's so weird, without the noise it really doesn't look like you're driving fast at all . It's a bit deceptive, even if you are just cruising and taking it calm on this route.

Jealousy of the car aside, I wish I had roads near me that were even a tenth that entertaining...

Yeah, that's an early video. I bought an external mic the next week. Plan on going back a little later with the GoPro3 and the external mic.
Major difference in sound. It picked up more high frequency drive-line noise than I would have liked, toyed around with mounting locations after that for the best, pre-edit sound.

I've actually watched this video before on YT.
In fact, the Devil's Triangle is my next destination for the Porsche 944.
If you don't mind me asking, where are you (I'm in Nashville, myself), and how did you come into an SLS?

Awesome! Anyone who says the Tail of the Dragon sucks is an idiot!

Yeah, screw those guys!

I'm about 90 minutes to the NE of Knoxville. Grand parents in Lake City so I'm extremely close. The Tail is close as well but is too crowded and patrolled these days.
As far as the SLS goes, it's a combo of being single/childless, performing a lot of surgeries, and responsible spending (save it all for cars :D ). I'm fairly down to earth. I don't require fancy food, expensive clothes, outrageous jewelry...but I do love cars.

Cool, cool. And I agree about the Dragon. The best time I ever had there was the last day of the season—a monday—after it had rained. Empty. Loved it.
And good on you for the doctoring + single + childless. I'm only two of those things. And engineering-ing isn't as lucrative as doctoring.
Which is why my prize is an 80s 911.
Do you track the SLS anywhere? (Is there anywhere to track ANYTHING that isn't just a straight line)

Yeah. Psh. Like those people drive anywhere.

Road Atlanta is less than 4 hours from Knoxville, and I've got a few BMWCCA events lined up for the E30 at VIR. You do have to travel a bit to get to a "real" track around here, but it's worth it.

What external mic did you end up buying, if I might ask?

I like this much better, drivetrain noise or no.
Also, you have way more self control than I do...

Audio-Technica ATR-3350. The main reason is that it comes with a 20ft cable. Easily reaches the back bumper where I usually tape it with painter's tape. I found that if you taper off the really high end noise the sound is pretty good, especially for the price.

Totally. And if they do, they probably have boring automatics.

Havin a car that is good at turns is amazing. . . if you have good roads, I don't have any really :( Still, I can have fun autocrossing.
